HTC IS PREPARING TO ANNOUNCE THE VIVERSE PHONE ON JUNE 28.

HTC has promised a "Viveverse" event on June 28, when the firm is likely to unveil a metaverse-themed phone.

The Taiwanese technology firm was formerly a major player in the Android smartphone market, but it was forced to transfer much of its expertise and intellectual property to Google due to falling market share and fierce competition.

Although HTC continues to produce phones, none have come close to the HTC One X or HTC One M8. With the new event, HTC is hoping to recapture some of that old magic.

The phone was planned to be released in April, however COVID-19 regulations caused the event to be postponed due to breakouts in Taiwan.

The Viveverse, an open-source metaverse platform, will be heavily integrated into the next smartphone, which will use both augmented-reality (AR) and virtual-reality (VR) technology.

HTC has been launching inexpensive smartphones like the HTC Desire 19+ in 2019 and the HTC U20 5G, HTC Desire 20 Pro, and Desire 20+ in 2020 since exiting the premium Android phone market.

It released the HTC Wildfire E3 in 2021.While it hasn't completely disappeared from the market, its effect has been substantially diminished, which HTC hopes to rectify on June 28.
