While the sequel to Sonic the Hedgehog will be released on April 8th, a third film is already in the works. There is a Paramount+ streaming series based on the sidekick Knuckles, which stars Idris Elba, in the works for Sonic the hedgehog 3 movie.
This will be the third theatrical Sonic feature and the first live action Sonic series for Paramount+, Sega CEO Haruki Satomi said in a tweet.
Colleen O'Shaughnessy, the voice of Tails in Sonic 2, was revealed in the game's debut trailer. It was also revealed that Dr. Robotnik (Jim Carry), the villain from the previous film, has returned to hunt the Chaos Emeralds. Knuckles the Echidna,
who aided him in the game, will probably swap sides as he did. Knuckles will be played by Elba in the next streaming series, which will debut in 2023.
The original Sonic film was one of the most popular video game adaptations to date, making a sequel a certainty. The fact that Paramount has already confirmed Sonic 3 and a streaming series shows how confident they must be. On April 8th, we'll find out if the trailer was right or wrong.
